Literacy Group Activity Reflection:
For our literacy group, we decided to have the children draw an ocean scene. We split into two groups. In my group, we only had three children and only one had been to the beach and could recall things that you might see in the ocean. We showed them some pictures in the book and talked about things in the ocean. The kids were very receptive to talking about the book. Some kids drew sea creatures, one little boy drew Scooby Doo. They also liked to draw familiar cartoon sea creatures, such as Spongebob. I really liked doing this activity with the preschool class. They were so fun and seemed interested in learning more about the ocean. Their enthusiasm is contagious and the thirty minutes that we were there flew by. Sometimes the kids were chatty, other times they just wanted to draw and talk about what they were drawing. They especially liked the glitter pens that we brought! I really enjoyed this activity and think it was very successful.
